I passed up on use of the application that would not work without additional hardware and software – other applications did as well but would work with what I had. It starts to start (something does popup, but does not work). Moreover, unless there is a hidden startup command line switch (or special control character sequence), one cannot put the application into debugging mode to report what the exception actually is – why it hangs. Gigapixel gets to a white window and then nothing – no diagnostics. When I attempted to use a different workflow application from a different vendor that did install, the application not only opened but, upon startup running, determined that it would refuse fully to run because certain other software components were too old – an MS Windows installer typically does not perform a during-installation verification, but at least that installed application did something – such as demanding additional funds be expended to run the application with a hardware replacement.
